Educational Programs

The educational programs at Broadmoor Elementary include an academically rich curriculum for Kindergarten through sixth grade, which teaches the Colorado Academic Standards in all content areas.

Reading: We utilize the Scott Foresman Reading Street program, which is an all-new comprehensive Reading and Language Arts series for the 21st Century. Reading Street delivers classic and soon-to-be classic literature, scientifically research-based instruction, and a wealth of groundbreaking online experiences for high student engagement.

Spelling: Students in grades K-2 use the spelling program embedded in the Reading Street program. Students in grades 3-6 use the Rebecca Sitton spelling program in conjunction with the Reading Street Reading series.

Math: District 12 uses McGraw-Hill (MyMath & Glencoe), which is a hands-on, problem-solving approach, to teach mathematics.

Science: Foss Science kits are used to provide a hands-on science program for K-6 students to teach science standards.

Social Studies: An integrated approach is used to teach Social Studies, incorporating the standards into reading and writing, as well as using Social Studies Weekly newspapers.

In addition to the core academic curriculum, physical education, music, and art are offered to all students.

Elementary Band classes are available for students in the fourth through sixth grades.

English Language Learning support instruction is available to qualified students.

Broadmoor Elementary is supported by the Cheyenne Mountain School District special education program. We provide services for children who have special instructional needs. Services provided are dependent on the Individual Education Plan for each student.
