Meet Mrs. Soyk

Soyk Personal Photo

Welcome to second grade!  I am excited for another fun year. This will be my 16th year as an elementary school teacher, and my 11th year teaching at Broadmoor Elementary.   I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and moved to Colorado shortly after graduating college.  I am married and have two children.  We love to go camping and spend most of our spare time at the hockey rink.

General Information

Mrs. Soyk

The best way to reach me is by email.  I can also be reached via phone before and after school, and sometimes at lunch.

Daily planners are expected to be filled out every day by students with the assignments of the day.  It is your child's responsibility to show you their planner each night.  You should also check to see if your child received a “Good Behavior” sticker for the day.  This is a quick way to communicate your child's behavior.  If your child has had difficulty following the rules or has not shown appropriate school behavior, he/she will not receive a sticker.

All important information and each student's weekly work will go home in the Thursday Folder. These folders need to be returned to school the following day. Any important notes, that cannot wait for Thursday Folders, will be sent home in the Planner Pocket.

Homework will be written in the planner each day and will also be available on the homework page.  Each student will receive a math book and a spelling notebook at the beginning of the year.  They will keep the math books at home and tear out math daily to be returned the next day.  Spelling notebooks should be used at home to practice spelling words each day but do not need to be turned in.  On Friday, students will turn in their reading log for the week.
